Lakota High School Graduate (’97) Jimmy Lallathin was announced as the head men’s basketball coach at NCAA Division I Kennesaw State this week after serving as the interim head coach for 16 games this season.
Lallathin previously worked as an intervention specialist at Lakota West High School while also working as an assistant coach/associate head coach for the Lakota West boy’s basketball team from 2003-2007. Lallathin worked under recently inducted Lakota Hall of Fame Coach Mike Mueller. Many remember Lallathin for his time working with the Lakota West basketball camps and summer leagues as the director. Following his time at Lakota West, Lallathin worked with the Miami University Men’s Basketball team for four years.
”Lakota West gave me my first opportunity to coach and truly developed my love for coaching. Coach Mueller gave me a great opportunity to coach with him on the varsity team and be a big part of the daily organization. I still use some of the teachings I received from Coach at Lakota West on a daily basis. Mr. Hamilton was another person who made a huge impact in assisting with my dream of being a coach at the Division I level. I can’t thank him enough for some of the sacrifices that he made for me my last year at Lakota before I transitioned to Miami University. I truly valued all my time at West!” said Lallathin.
