Summary by Bob Ashby:
The West offense produced the second largest single game yardage output in Firebird history, 496, with most of those yards, 427, coming on the ground. David Afari led this rushing onslaught with 29 attempts totaling 277 yards, a spectacular 9.6 yards per carry. Afari crossed the goal line three times in the first half to account of all the first half scoring. He had amassed 191 rushing yards before the intermission. The fourth Firebird TD came on an 9 yard pass from MyJaden Horton to Alex Bunton. Jalen Swanson chipped in with an additional 96 yards rushing including a 41 yard scamper which produced the fifth West TD to end the third quarter. The final quarter was pretty much turned over to the reserves. All five Firebird TD’s were followed by successful extra point kicks by Michael Doyle. Tyler Bentley was the teams leading tackler with 7 (4 solo, 3 assisted), including a team high 4 tackles for loss. Xavier Peters contributed 6 tackles, and forced a fumble for a turnover. Three of his stops were tackles for loss, one of which added to his season sack total.
