Junior Allie Cummins (Class of ’18) was recently announced as one of 18 players selected to the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association (OHSFCA) Division I All-State 1st Team. She was one of only six juniors selected first team from the 185 D-1 schools in the state of Ohio. She’s the third Firebird softball player to ever be named 1st team all-Ohio twice (Keir McEachern ’03-’04, Lindsay Bodeker ’05-’06).
Cummins holds numerous Lakota West season records including highest batting average, highest slugging percentage, highest on base percentage, most doubles, most homeruns, most extra base hits, most RBI’s, most runs scored and most walks in a season. In addition, she also has the most career RBI’s and most runs scored. This season, she held a .488 batting average and a .611 on base percentage, 43 RBI’s and 10 homeruns. Cummins played shortstop for the Firebirds this season and has already committed to play collegiate softball at the University of Akron.
In addition to the All-Ohio announcement, five Lakota West Softball players were named All-GMC. Junior Lauren Betz, Senior Megan Brankamp and Junior Allie Cummins were all named 1st team All-GMC. Sophomore Alyssa Triner and Sophomore Cam Wesley were named 2nd-Team All-GMC.
