With last night’s win over Colerain, Lakota West Softball Coach Keith Castner attained his 400th career win. Of the several thousand Ohio high school varsity coaches that have coached in the state since 1980, when softball became an OHSAA recognized sport, Castner now ranks in the top 25. Of the 748 active softball head coaches who are leading high school teams during the current Ohio season Castner is one of 15 with 400 or more wins.
He began his softball coaching career as the coach of the of the 1987 Lakota Freshman team, progressing up through junior varsity, and varsity assistant levels in the final Lakota High School years. Coach Castner began his head coaching tenure when Lakota West opened in 1997. Castner’s current coaching record is 400-151 (72.6%).
