Multiple Teams · Lakota West Volleyball: Maya Krause Named Academic All-American

Senior Maya Krause has earned another award in her high school volleyball career and this one did not come easily.  Earlier this year, Krause was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention for actions on the court, but last week she was named to’s ACADEMIC All-American team recognizing her on-court AND off-court activities.  Krause has already signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Xavier University next school year.

“I am in awe of Maya’s athletic and academic accomplishments. I often wonder how she had the time in her day to excel at this level. I’m not sure she ever sleeps! She was able to accomplish these with a strong work ethic and determination. She is a genuinely nice person and a role model. I’m proud to have such a fine young woman associated with our program,” said Lakota West Varsity Volleyball Coach Tracey Kornau.

Krause’s list of academic accomplishments are impressive:

  • Ranked 2nd in class of ’17 (out of 618)
  • GPA=4.877
  • 2016 AP Scholar Award (two 5’s and one 4 on 2016 AP exams)
  • 31 ACT score
  • High Honor Roll every semester of high school
  • Member of National Honor Society
  • Volunteer in the patient care units of UC West Chester Hospital
  • Completed two week biomedical internship at UC West Chester Hospital
  • Former SPCA volunteer

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • 2nd Team All-State
  • GMC Athlete of the Year
  • District 16 Player of the Year
  • Holds school record of kills/game in a season (5.70)
  • Holds school record of kills/game in a career (4.31)
