The Lakota West Girls Basketball season came to an end last week, but the postseason accolades are starting to pile up for some of the players.
Junior Abby Prohaska, University of Notre Dame commit, was named 1st team Associated Press DI All-Ohio. The 5’10” guard/forward becomes the 9th Lakota West player to be named All-Ohio in the school’s twenty years of existence. It’s the third consecutive year the Firebirds have placed a player on the first team. Prohaska averaged 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the 24-3 Firebirds this season. Her 3.5 assists per game ties the Lakota West team record first set by Allison Whitenack in 2005-06.
Prohaska also joined teammates Junior Madisyn Oxley, Junior Sarah Jones and Junior Jasmine Ballew to the SW Associated Press All-District Team. Prohaska was named 1st team while the other three were named honorable mention. Jones, 5’6″ guard averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 steals, and 1.7 assists. Oxley, 5’6″ guard averaged 7.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 assists per game this season. She also was 35/95 (36.8%) in three point shooting. Ballew, 5’9″ forward averaged 7.8 points, 4.8 rebounds,1.3 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting a team leading 42.5% (18/48) from three point range.
Prohaska (1st team), Jones (1st team), and Oxley (2nd team) also received All-GMC honors.
