Lakota West Senior Megan Brankamp (’17), daughter of Tom and Leslie Brankamp, has verbally committed to play softball and continue her education at Georgetown College next school year.
“My dream has always been to pitch in college. I love the game of softball. I love to be in that circle and I love being a part of a team,” said Brankamp.
Last season, Brankamp was Second Team All-GMC with an 11-6 record and a 2.49 ERA as a pitcher. In addition, she hit .365 with a .383 OBP.
“Megan Brankamp is an extremely hard worker and is one of our team leaders. She leads by example on and off the field. Megan has been very successful on the softball field as a pitcher because of her work ethic and her love for the game. Our coaching staff loves the way she plays the game of softball,” said Lakota West Head Softball Coach Keith Castner.
“I chose Georgetown College because of Coach Thornton and Coach Kelli. They have both been watching me play for years and they made me feel wanted. The softball complex is really nice. The campus is beautiful and close to home. I wanted to be close enough to have my biggest fans, my family, come watch me play! I owe a lot to them for their sacrifice and constant support! Georgetown is a perfect fit for me and I’m excited to be a Georgetown Tiger,” said Brankamp.
