Nick broke the Lakota West school record for longest punt Friday at the East/West game.  Hjort punted the ball 79 yards to far exceed  the previous record of 67 yards which had been set by Brett Slonaker nineteen years ago.  This was the oldest record in the West football record book.

Abby Wagner
Junior, Girls Golf
Abby was one of four individual’s from Monday’s sectional tournament to qualify for the Southwest Ohio district tournament.  Wagner finished tied for 15th in a sectional field of 85 and more importantly finished among the top 4 among players from non-qualifying teams.  She will be the only Firebird advancing to this years District tournament.

Laura Russell
Junior, Girls Golf
Laura was the match medalist at the girls golf Senior Day Tri-match on Thursday. Russell shot a 6 over par round at the Hamilton Elks country club and became the first Firebird to garner medalist honors in three matches this season.

Linden Eberle

Linden scored three of Lakota West’s four goals, including the initial  goal, in a 4-0 win over Colerain at Cummins field on Tuesday.  Eberle’s hat trick, his second this year and the fourth in his career, vaulted him into the GMC scoring lead for the season.  He now has 14 goals and 1 assist this year.

Sophia Schivone
Senior, Volleyball
Sophia had a team leading 12 kills in the Firebird’s three set win over Colerain at the Mainstreet Arena on Tuesday.  This brought  Schivone’s kill total to a Lakota West high of 80 for the year.

MyJaden Horton
Sophomore, Football
MyJaden, playing in the quarterback slot, led the Firebirds to a 31-24 win over Oak Hills on Friday.  Horton generated a team high 205 yards of total offense with 194 coming via passes. He completed 15 of 25 throws with no interceptions.  Two of his passes went for TD’s including the winning touchdown which came with just a minute remaining in the game.

Freshman, Girls Soccer
Savannah led West in scoring this week as they racked up two wins and a tie.  She tallied the lone Firebird goal on Monday to force a 1-1 tie against GMC rival Mason, following that with an insurance goal in the 3-0 win over Princeton on Wednesday, and the icebreaker goal in the 3-0 win at Walnut Hills on Saturday.

Alex Kelker
Junior, Cross Country
Alex was the individual champion and led the Firebirds to a team first in Saturday’s six team Princeton Invitational Cross Country meet. Kelker was the first among the 72 runners to break the tape. His winning time of 16:12 was both a team season best and a personal all time best.

Abby Taylor
Junior, Volleyball
Abby was cited by the Firebird coaches for her outstanding all-around play while leading Lakota West to a 4-1 record and a second place finish in this weekends 18 team Queen of Courts Tournament at Elizabethtown, Kentucky.  Taylor led the team in total kills and finished among the West leaders in digs, blocks, and service aces.

David Afari
Sophmore, Football
David rushed for a game high 106 yards in Fridays game against Centerville.  This marks the second straight week Afari has been the games leading rusher. He topped the century mark in both games, and also scored a touchdown in both games.

Rachel Goodman
Senior, Soccer
Rachel scored the games final goal by penalty kick with two minutes remaining to give the Firebirds a 2-1 win over Mount Notre Dame at Cummins field on Tuesday.  Goodman has scored two goals and an assist this season and is currently leading the team in scoring.

Cole Cronk
Freshman, Cross Country
Cole was the lead runner for the boys cross country team at the Finish Timing Classic hosted by Wilmington College on Saturday.  Cronk’s time of 16:53 was first Firebird season opening time under 17 minutes in the past five years and was good for a 16th place finish in a field of 471 runners.

Hanna Riesenberg
Junior, Cross Country
Hanna was the lead runner for the girls cross country team at the Finish Timing Classic hosted by Wilmington College on Saturday.  Riesenbergs’  5th place finish was the highest on either the Firebird boys or girls team and led the girls to a 4th place finish among the 16 teams competing.

Linden Eberle

Linden scored both Firebird goals in the West season opening 2-2 tie against Centerville at Cummin’s Park on Saturday.  Both goals, one from the field and one via penalty kick, came in the first half and gave the home team one goal leads which were later erased by the Elks.

Florine Sanchez
Junior, Tennis
Florine led a 5-0 team win over Seton in the first round of the Ohio Coaches Association Team tournament.  Sanchez, playing in the first singles slot, contributed a decisive 6-1, 6-1 two set win to the Firebird victory.  The match was played at Lakota West on Tuesday.

Senior, Boys Golf
Brandon opened the season by leading the team in scoring through the opening tournaments of the season.  He was the team scoring co-leader with an 80 at the Sycamore Invitational last Saturday and came back to record a team low score of 83 at the Anderson Invitational on Tuesday.

Junior, Girls Golf
Brooke carded a 47 at the Hamilton Elks Country Club, to earn medalist honors in the Firebird’s win over Oak Hills on Friday. She also contributed to the team totals in two earlier events this season including a team leading 87 at the Villa Madonna Invitational last Saturday.
