Lakota West Senior Olivia Hocker (’18), daughter of Rick and Sandra Hocker, has verbally committed to play Lacrosse and continue her education at Mount St. Joseph next school year. Hocker completed her second varsity season at Lakota West this past spring and is now training for her senior campaign with the Firebirds.

1. What led you to your decision to attend your chosen college?
The Mount has everything that I’m looking for as a student athlete. I get to continue playing the sport I love while my family is close. I really felt at home after visiting Mount St. Joseph back in September. I feel that the size of The Mount is going to allow me to achieve everything I’m looking for in college.

2. Do you know what you want to study?
I want to major in Nursing

3. What other schools did you consider?
-Walsh University
-Ursuline College
-University of Cincinnati

4. Have you visited the school? If so, when?  How did it go?
Yes, September 2016. I was very excited after visiting MSJ. The campus was really nice and the Lacrosse coaching staff was awesome.

5. Did anyone help you through the recruiting process?  What kind of help did they provide?
My Dad played a big part in my recruiting process. Dad was dedicated by taping every game and breaking down ways to make me better on the field. He also helped guide me thru the process by showing me the best ways to communicate with different coaching staffs including MSJ. I really appreciate all he’s done for me.

Congrats Olivia! #Westpride #WEareLakota
