The Lakota West boys lacrosse team has beaten Lakota East in lacrosse for ten straight years.  However, last Friday’s game took on a little more meaning because it was the first game between the two schools since lacrosse became an official OHSAA sport.

The 8-7 victory didn’t come easy.  The tie-breaker and game winning goal came with approximately three minutes left in the 4th quarter when Senior Captain Craig Thompson scored on an assist from Aidan Manning.

Senior Rhys Johnson led all scorers with three goals.  Johnson currently leads the team with 52 points for the season (33 goals, 19 assists).  Senior Captain Goalie Justin Hollen had a stellar night with seven saves on 23 shots.

The Firebirds host their first OHSAA playoff game tonight (Wednesday, 5/17) against Elder, 7pm.  Tickets are $7 and no passes will be accepted.
